What I do to get out of a funk...otherwise known as Make a run for Dunkin Donuts

It's who I am.  I'm creative and moody.  I had a hysterectomy almost a year ago...straight into menopause the next day.  I'm in the process of a divorce.  I don't watch the news.  I can talk myself into a depression in about 5.2 seconds.  I know these things about myself.  So...the other day I was feeling it.  You know, anxiety to the nth degree...like I wanted to stay in the bed all day.  I get paralyzed with having so much to do and not knowing where to start.  I've heard it be called the paralysis of analysis.  So this is what I did:

Took one of these:

Then dried my hair and put some make-up on.  It's amazing what a little make-up can do for a gal...just sayin'

Then I drove straight here:

And with the goodness of this {iced mocha latte-no sugar) running through my veins...

I drove straight to the nearest thrift store and bought this for 10 bucks!  Whoop whoop

I needed a small little desk in my workroom.  It was perfectly painted green!  And the perfect size!  Happy, happy happy!

What's your go to plan when you feel a funk comin' on?

  1. I'm taking care of my elderly mother who has dementia. I tore the cartilage in my left knee seven weeks ago and am in constant pain. I've been unemployed for the last eight-and-a-half months and have exhausted the funds in my bank account. But when I'm feeling low (which is pretty much all the time these days), I visit my friend, Michael. At 6:00 p.m., I catch the bus he drives and chat with him for about an hour-and-a-half while looking at the gorgeous scenery here in Victoria. He always makes me feel like I have a friend.

  2. When I am in a funk or feel it coming on, I leave the house and go shopping. Not just any kind of shopping. I go fabric shopping. Fabric never fails me. I love to look at it, touch it, sew with it. It just makes me feel better every time I am in a fabric store.

  3. Being creative gets me out of a funk. Painting an old piece of furniture. Sewing a pillow or new pattern. Trying a new DIY project. Funny thing is...if I DON'T do these things, it will also put my into a funk!

  4. Half an hour working in the garden turns my head around. It puts me in another world. Glad you have a formula for pulling yourself up out of a funk.

We all need to make a "Gains" and "Drains" list, and check it often.

    Ten bucks! You scored.
