Price My $pace
Nester is having a Price my $pace Party...so here's mine!

1) Thrift store sofa with home made slipcover - $150. Thrift store throw pillows with new covers sewn on - $10. End table was FREE from my mom.
2) Craig's List Chair with home made slipcover - $50. End table by armchair $40 from an estate sale. Thrift store lamp - $4. Eiffel Tower Tassel - trade w/Nester. Basket filled w/magazines under table from IKEA $13. Thrift store throw pillow covered with a man's linen shirt that I embroidered - $6
3) Thrift store storage ottoman - $20 (I knew this was from IKEA and that it was a slipcover...no one would go near it because it was filthy...but I KNEW...I could rip it off and wash it). Tray from IKEA (can't remember price). Hand blown glass bowl from southern living...(I went to one of the party's where you have to buy at least one item...so I got this. I think it was - $30. yuck. Jute Rug - $125 from Lowe's.
4) Thrift store chair - $10...spray painted black and covered cushions with zebra fabric. Magazine Holder - $4. Recovered pillow - $6
5) Black wood bookcase - $100. Originally purchased new at an unfinished wood store. Have been painted white and now black. I have 2 of these. Hard to find sturdy, used wood book shelves. I hate paying retail for new items. Items on bookshelf from thrift store, IKEA, inherited.
6) Beagle - from local animal shelter - PRICELESS!

Bathroom Re-do
I knew this house had potential...I mean I liked sponge painting too...in the 90's! A can of paint is the cheapest and most dramatic change you can make to a room. Watch...I can prove it!
I just changed out the drawer pulls. Primed the bathroom and then painted it "Ocean Dream"...the same as my dining room. In the bathroom, the color looks more gray. Then used what I had to accessorize. Vintage pics of Hawaii, candles and a photo of our fam at the beach. I still want to hang something by the sink/lamp. I covered the lamp shade in burlap. I also want to put a frame around the mirror like Rhoda did here. And I've been debating about painting the cabinet black. Also, I need to change out the light fixture...thought about painting it black for the interim. I'm loving it right now, it makes me feel very calm.

Dining Room Sneak Peek
I'm not completely finished...and I'm so lame I forgot to take a picture of the table before painting it. So here is a picture of one of the other chairs I haven't finished yet.
And, yes, that is a matching buffet behind the chair. I'm pretty positive it's antique...and yes I'm spray painting it all black. Don't judge. I like PAINTED wood! And how about that seat cover? I covered the two end chairs in zebra fabric. I only had enough for those two. I'm thinkin' about covering the other four in painter's drop cloth and doing freezer art on the seats of some scrolly numbers or maybe our monogram??? I don't know yet. I'm just trying to use what I have. I did sell a bunch of furniture and some homeschool stuff to buy the dining set off craigslist. I painted the bottom of the dining room white and the top "Ocean Dream"...both from Lowes. This is my new favorite color. It is a gray-blue. I'm in love with it! Hope you're enjoying your summer!

Today I'm celebrating...
saving a life...

Meet the newest member of our family...Allie. We saved her from the animal shelter. We think she was abused by a man. She's petrified of my husband. She is a sweetie girl that we have all fallen in love with. She's learning to trust and love once again. Go check out Chatting at the Sky's Tuesday Celebration to see what other's are celebrating today.

Why do I feel like I'm 17?
Conversation with my mom of 64 years.
Mom: Did you watch the MTV movie awards?
Me: Yes!
Mom: Because I taped it for you.
Me: Oh Yippee!
My husband: You guys are silly!
Me & My Mom: He doesn't get it!
